Just had the worst day at work. I'm still unmedicated for ADD (fixing that soon... have a doctor's appointment to get a referral to a psych, but the appointment's not until November). I can actually still do my job quite well provided there aren't any major interruptions to my workflow.
There were five major interruptions to my workflow today. One of which lasted nearly a half-hour. All of which prevented me from doing any work whatsoever while they were happening.
So I basically got very distracted and kept being distracted when work was back on.
So that sucked.

Long Time No Type
Feb. 15th, 2011 04:15 pmHey, it's my birthday! Another year older!
Sorry I've been incommunicado. I've been moving into a new place (the final place), waiting for Internet to get set-up, and generally getting adjusted to living in a new city, working at a new job, etc.
I haven't even read my friendslist in... too too long. So if you've had any major life changes, er, point me to the relevant posts.
No birthday mixtape this year, I think. I just don't have the wherewithal (which is a shame, because I've discovered a metric eff-ton of cool new music courtesy of my lead at work).
Going to Disneyland on Friday for my birthday. It will be
echan 's very first time going. Very exciting.
Okay, back to the grind now. Later!

Actual Update Alert
Jan. 6th, 2011 02:05 amIt occurs to me that, other than my brief and completely unintelligible post from earlier, I haven't made a significant update in two weeks. Whoops. Here's the deal:
I was in fact, offered a job at a different web hosting company which I accepted and now I work with
lizbetann (same schedule and everything). Went home for Christmas and moving, vastly underestimated the amount of time needed to get our crap out of the apartment, ending up doing the drive to Los Angeles a day late and the schlepping of items into the storage unit a day after that. But long story short, both
echan and I are now Los Angeles residents (crashing with Lizbet and
diannelamerc for the time being). We four drew up plans to live in a big geek commune of a two-bedroom apartment, only to be thwarted by unavailability and then unthwarted today when one opened up. Woot.
Also, I've been exercising daily on the Wii Fit. It's weird but I feel healthier and my ADD (which is currently unmedicated due to a foul-up with the prescriptions in the moving process) is actually semi-manageable. Mind you, when the expectations start to ramp up, I'll want my shiny orange pills again, but for now, I'm kind of okay.
Also, Lizbet and Dee are made of win. That is all.

Jan. 13th, 2009 12:57 pmSo much stuff going on. Some of it I can control, some of it I can control but don't seem to have any desire to do so, and some of it is out of my hands.
Credits Addict: ( This bit is boring )
Book: Based on a promise that
kenobi extracted from me -- crafty lady -- this year I'm properly starting work on some sort of horror film related book. It was meant to be a book on comedic represenations of cannibalism in film, but it turns out that another author is working along similar enough lines that I need a new idea. I'm still pondering.
Web Design: Designing a website for Dad right now. It's... going.
Work: Busy.
Phoenix Comicon: Not quite sure what's going on here, because the coordinator in question is clearly very busy, but I'm fairly certain I'm doing a panel on classic horror there in a few weeks.
Fun: I do have time for that. And it's been awesome.
Anyway, in the next week or so, keep your eyes peeled for my annual "A Great Many Things I'd Like To Do This Year" list. And of course, next month we'll have my annual birthday mix CD and Top 25 films list.

Icon is unrelated. I just made it and I kind of love it.
- Went out to a Goth club with
echan Friday night. She totally tricked me into dancing and abusing my poor calves. I can't help it if my idea of getting my groove on involves as little contact with the ground as possible. Clearly I had a load of fun, though, or I wouldn't have agreed to go out again this Friday.
- Finally saw Requiem for a Dream. That is a really really depressing-ass movie. Wow. Half-tempted to write a review for C-H.
- Speaking of, I'm completely stumped for how to properly celebrate the site's tenth birthday in June.
- Been working, ever so slowly, on my Let the Right One In review. It's kind of a bitch.
- Don't want to go to work tomorrow. Gr!
- Quark: The Complete Series is cheese-mo awesomeness.
liz_marcs should get a medal for pimping it.

It's freakin' freezing cold at work today. I hate working in the data center sometimes. I should have long sleeves on, but I don't. Of course.
Two (you read that right -- two) new posts over at Cinema-Geek.com, one on Mario Bava's The Whip and the Body and another on five widely recognized "classic" horror films that I don't like. But then, subscribers to
cinemageekblog are already way ahead of the game. *G*

I managed a surprising amount of work today, despite my near-constant inability to focus on anything for longer than a minute.
Go me.
In other news, this is really ridiculous. I gonna make it GO!!

Got a sort-of promotion at work. Same official job title (Support Tier 2, which is another promotion I failed to mention), but I'll be doing Professional Services, which means I get to go into servers and futz around with people's code and whatnot.
Righteous.
Oh, and I'll be working Monday-Friday again. After a year of Sunday-Thursday, that'll be weird.
I have two more 5 things lists to do, but I seek more! Hit me.

Mary Poppins and Sideways!
Also, I finally got out of work shortly after making that post about being stuck at work. Still completely burnt out, though. Can't wait for my upcoming four-day weekend in Dayton, OH!

At work until 6 - voluntarily. The leads are all in a meeting until then, I have seniority... so I volunteered to stay the extra hour and a half so that there would be an Acting Lead available until the real ones let out and completely steamroll over my lunch.
I think I rock, thank you.
ETA: It didn't suck, but I sure would like to be an actual lead instead of a pinch hitter. This substitute crap is for the birds.

A Whole Half-Hour To Myself
Jan. 18th, 2006 06:27 amYesterday, my boss asked me to come in at 7:30 this morning instead of 8. For whatever reason, my brain interpreted this as "Oh, crap, gonna have to wake up a whole hour earlier." So, I did. By the time I was awake enough to realize my mistake, I was too awake to take advantage of the possibility of sleep. So here I am. Posting.
La di da.
Oh, and happy birthday to
lizbetann. Woot!
ETA: Oops. Looks like I wasn't mistaken at all. I was supposed to be in at 7. Egads.

From the Perch of an Actual Life...
Nov. 28th, 2005 03:31 pmI'm getting shiny new accesses at work, which they're training me for this week. This means that I'll have more leeway to solve the issues that come in to me. Additionally, it means I get pulled from the phones around 3:00, which is like a waltz to my happy feet. I'm also staying an extra hour and a half every day this week for the class, plus three hours on Friday, so beaucoup overtime.
The bad news is, of course, that I won't be home until nearly 7 every night this week. Which means that I'm going to be a bit lax in Certain Responsibilities. Which sucks. And also, free time, which I never had that much of to begin with, is essentially ixnayed this week.
Life's yin-yang pull at each other again like a pair of spoiled twins fighting over the last dharma cookie.

Job Goodness
Sep. 1st, 2005 11:13 amI have a new job! I start September 12th as technical support for iPowerWeb. This is totally awesome. My only issue is that iPower has a rep for bad tech support, so that's a hill I'm going to have to climb over with every person who calls in. Otherwise, rock!
Plus, I have a show tonight. This is the best Thursday evar.

What's the Matter with Today Today?
May. 3rd, 2005 01:17 pmMy job is starting to get mind-numbingly monotonous. I actually caught some z's in front of the monitor today. Ugh. It used to be there was an element of challenge, but now it's just the long slouch to oblivion, day in, day out. And I feel bad about goofing off just to keep myself occupied.
*headdesk*

I hate calling in sick. For one thing, if I do eventually feel better, I can't go anywhere. My work is within three blocks of my apartment complex, and if I were to be seen up and about, well... A temp's life can be a brutally short one (even after nearly seven months of dedication and hard work). This morning I was all blargh, now I'm doing better. So I'm trapped (well, I could go into work, but I always feel weird about that).
Tried working on my Angel ficathon story, but it's not coming together. My problem is that if I want to stay in canon, I have exactly one period of time I can place the story in, and I just don't have any exciting ideas for that time. I was basically writing reams of dialogue with no place to go with it. I hate that.
Have some films to review. Screeners are the bane of my existence, because I'm expected to review them with in a certain amount of time and (unspoken) expected to like them. I always feel guilty trashing a free movie, so I always hope that it's really good. I fear I err on the side of not pissing off the marketing people, which is not cool (and they honestly don't care).
Watched Love Actually this morning. Oh, how I love that movie. Richard Curtis writes fabulous, very English romantic comedies. They get me every single time. It started with The Tall Guy and just went from there. And anybody who uses Emma Thompson is a-okay in my book.

Running Late
Oct. 28th, 2004 08:22 amRun outside today in my canvas Converse All-Stars and no coat. Which is usually fine for Arizona. Except today it's pouring rain and I'm early for my bus.
Fine. Run upstairs. Grab coat. Run downstairs. Realize canvas is soaking through. Also realize that I don't have my bus pass on me.
Run upstairs. Realize while switching shoes that I've missed my bus. Fine. I'll take the next one. Enjoy some quality 'net time (find out that of all cities in California, I'm personally best suited for the far too expensive Ventura - go fig).
Run downstairs for second bus. Get to bus stop. Realize that while I have coat and non-soaking through shoes on, I still do not have a bus pass.
Run upstairs. Get bus pass. Realize have missed second bus. Call work. Explain will be late. Grab bus pass, shove into pocket. Post to LJ about experience.
I blame
airawyn - somehow she's found a way to share her rain with me.
