jetpack_monkey: (Joxer - Happy)
I went to Des Moines last week to see my mom and nephling (as well as briefly see my dad who was in town for unrelated reasons). It went very well. It's nice to reconnect with my mom, who I haven't seen since November 2019 and who lives in Ireland now. Also, I had some really nice moments with the nephling. We went to the Iowa State Fair on Friday which made me feel old as hell. I spent most of the day just looking for an air conditioned place to sit down.

So much stuff going on. Some of it I can control, some of it I can control but don't seem to have any desire to do so, and some of it is out of my hands.

Credits Addict: This bit is boring )

Book: Based on a promise that [livejournal.com profile] kenobi  extracted from me -- crafty lady -- this year I'm properly starting work on some sort of horror film related book. It was meant to be a book on comedic represenations of cannibalism in film, but it turns out that another author is working along similar enough lines that I need a new idea. I'm still pondering.

Web Design: Designing a website for Dad right now. It's... going.

Work: Busy.

Phoenix Comicon: Not quite sure what's going on here, because the coordinator in question is clearly very busy, but I'm fairly certain I'm doing a panel on classic horror there in a few weeks.

Fun: I do have time for that. And it's been awesome.

Anyway, in the next week or so, keep your eyes peeled for my annual "A Great Many Things I'd Like To Do This Year" list. And of course, next month we'll have my annual birthday mix CD and Top 25 films list.

[livejournal.com profile] kenobi made me a fabulous new layout. You should check it out because it wins at layouts.

In other news, my father continues to be a self-involved, socially self-destructive drama queen. I gave him the news about the new baby girl, aka my niece, aka his granddaughter and his response was a backhanded congrats and three lines of how much it hurts him omg to be cut out of the lives of my sister and I.

This is the man I thought was a giant, a god... the man who was always right and couldn't lose. He makes me sad, but not enough to drag down the joyful fun of having my very own niece.

Flist Cut

Made an flist cut in an effort to keep my reading tidier (especially since I am loathe to use viewing filters).

Oh. And on Thursday, I told my father to never call me again. That was interesting.
