The Shape of Water

Just a quick note here to say that I saw this last night and I feel so understood by Guillermo del Toro.

I can't say it's the best movie I've seen recently, but it's definitely the most Me movie I've seen in a long time.

It's a beautiful film, aesthetically gorgeous. I like both the Little Mermaid resonances and the way water is used thematically throughout. A "well-made play" with a consistent spine.

Seriously. I identify with the person who needed this particular story told. I have always been friends with monsters. They helped me survive difficult times. I just want to see them find their happiness, too.
