So I just read the following bit in A Storm of Swords:

(Catelyn and Robb are at Walder Frey's castle to make amends for Robb's broken word and everything is super tense)

"Catelyn tasted the wine and nibbled at some bread, and felt much the better for it. Now we should be safe, she thought."

Bear in mind that I've never read the books before, but I was already feeling uncomfortable with where this particular plot thread was going. Now my brain is screaming "OH GOD OH GOD YOU'RE ALL DOOMED NOW I WILL CRY FOR YOU."

Edited to add: Yup. I was right. I hate being right.

You'd think Catelyn, who is pretty politically savvy, would have known better.

Alas and woe betide.

She did know better, I think, but for the sake of her son, she chose to ignore it. And that's why the Lannisters remain mostly unsullied by George RR Martin's deadly pen.

Because they are hot even when screwing each other and Tyrion is a BAMF and they will kill anyone who might fuck with them before they can be fucked with.

Er.

Yeah.

Nice people always bite it in GRRM's world.
