So I just read the following bit in A Storm of Swords:

(Catelyn and Robb are at Walder Frey's castle to make amends for Robb's broken word and everything is super tense)

"Catelyn tasted the wine and nibbled at some bread, and felt much the better for it. Now we should be safe, she thought."

Bear in mind that I've never read the books before, but I was already feeling uncomfortable with where this particular plot thread was going. Now my brain is screaming "OH GOD OH GOD YOU'RE ALL DOOMED NOW I WILL CRY FOR YOU."

Edited to add: Yup. I was right. I hate being right.

This just... it changes everything. And I don't think it's going to change things in ways the Lannisters necessarily expect.

seriously, yeah. I'm not sure what would have been a bigger game changer here that didn't involve at least a whole city being destroyed? or an *entire* family?

I should have known after Ned that he'd really kill anyone, but I so didn't see this coming... I was always weirded out that Rob never had any chapters of his own. I guess I still get a bit sad about this, a year and a half later.

I remember back in book one, when they left Winterfell, wondering how long it would be before all the Stark kids were together again. WHAT A SWEET SUMMER CHILD I WAS.
