Not a ton of thoughts about last night's weekly television block (which has spilled over into Tuesdays now so I can watch Veronica Mars). I was trying to be attentive and all, but I'm easily distracted by Trillian (looks at [livejournal.com profile] airawyn and [livejournal.com profile] seeshellirun).

Strangely unaffecting episode for what amounts to a protracted death scene. I think it was all the Jack flashbacks. Is it just me or does Jack have the most boring history of anybody on that island? I mean, Charlie's a rock star, Claire's got the mystical baby of doom, Hurley's got unholy bad luck, Sawyer's a con man... And Jack is a doctor with daddy issues. Yawn.

Still, I'm glad they finally had the cajones to kill somebody off like they always promised they were going to. Too bad it was Boone. I don't give a flying flip about Boone, and I was waiting for him to get more interesting. If it'd been somebody who I'd actually invested some emotion into, this might have been a much better episode.

Sayid/Shannon continues to be cute, however strange to watch. I don't get the chemistry. It's there, but I don't get it. Also, Jin finally gets some really great moments (something he didn't even get in his own episode), and it was great to watch him communicate with Sun and pseudo-bond with Charlie.

FINALLY. Things are starting to take off. We have some real threads dangling at the end. Vaughn's rogue. Spydaddy's irradiated. We're on the warpath after a Derevko sister and Spyauntie is on next week!

Still, missing that spark that made Season 1 and 2 so good, or at least that wackiness that made Season 3 compulsively watchable. The APO setting continues to make this the weakest of all Alias seasons. They're black ops, but they never act like it. Hell, I forget they're not just another CIA cell sometimes - I had to be reminded by last week's episode.

I hate to say it, but I want some Rambaldi action again. What the hell did Sloane and Nadia find at the end of last season? Also, more Sark. Always more Sark.

OH! It's a sister. I thought it was her mom still being alive. Heh! I just heard "Derevko" and was like "OH! I know that name!" I blame this misknowledge on my still not having gotten to all the Spymommy stuff.

Good to know what is really what happened, though.

Nope. I thought so initially, also (I heard "Irina" mistakenly).
