Who wants to cast Romeo & Juliet with all Buffyverse players? Great, great. Been done I'm sure.

I actually started writing the damn thing. I stopped halfway through Act 1 Scene 1 because the level of geekery inherent in mounting the project in full is beyond even me. But still, here's the cast I whipped up.

The Gang of Scooby:
Buffy (Juliet)
Andrew (Gregory)
Xander (Tybalt)
Hank Summers (Lord Capulet)
Willow (Nurse)

The Order of Aurelius:
Spike (Romeo)
Clem (Benvolio)
Glasses-Wearing Vampire (Balthasar)
The Master (Lord Montague)
Angelus (Mercutio)

Other Players:
Drusilla (Rosaline)
The Mayor (The Prince)
Riley (Paris)
Giles (Friar Lawrence)
Wesley (Friar John)

Color me dorky. :D

Damn. Despite the inherent Spuffiness of it, I'm very tempted to tackle this. I'm already picturing it all in my head. Which is pretty darn sad, true.

*resists urge to geek out*

*keeps resisting*

Give in! Somebody has to write it.

Hell, I was trying to write it in play format... in iambic pentameter.

I don't know if that makes me a bigger Buffy geek or a bigger Shakespeare geek.

Urge to resist... crumbling...

*tries to back away slowly*

Y'see, the problem is, as soon as I read this, the perfect way to end it popped into my head. Hate it when that happens.

It is perfectly okay to be equally geeky in both.

I've found room for Dawn, Darla, and Willy.

Damn you.

And double-damn you for me working on something Spuffy-related.

It's not staying iambic, though. I'd go insane.

Oooh. Let me guess. Darla for Lady Montague and Willy for the Apothecary, right?

I'm still not seeing how Dawn works in, though...

Gold star on Darla. I put Willy in for Abraham, since he's hanging with Clem. Since the Servant is a member of the house of Capulet who goes to speak to Spike/Romeo, Dawn works really well there when written in a Dawn-ish way. I'm considering replacing "Glasses-Wearing Vampire" with Holden Webster for Balthasar. Haven't cast the Apothecary yet. Amy, perhaps? Heck, Rack would work well, too.

Jonathan (Samson) and Joyce (Lady Capulet) are in there now as well. I'm considering switching in Lorne for Friar Laurence and putting Giles in as Lord Capulet.

It's all still in major flux, and I'm totally rewriting the lines and editing it down so it all works. I hear grave-spinning going on right now.

Um, wait. Should I be working right now?

Yes! Holden!

I was *completely* blanking on a good vampire for that role...

Giles would be better as Lord Capulet, I'll grant. I'd miss the banter with Wes, though... Maybe you could put scruffy Wes in as Lawrence and Lorne as John...

The more I write this, the more I realize that Giles HAS to be Lord Capulet. It just works too dang well.

Nice thought with the Friars! That'd totally work.

I'm just having too much fun re-writing the lines in the character's voices. *hee*

If you need/want any help on this, I'm totally at your disposal, e-mail, online, etc.

Well, not messaging or Bronzey until 7PM (but we're in the same timezone now, so hey).

I know! It would so work with a little tweaking and the right author.

I actually angsted over whether to make Giles Lord Capulet or Friar Lawrence, but relented to the latter when the opportunity for Giles/Wesley banter presented itself.

You know, A Midsummer Night's Dream would work, too. Let's see: Buffy as Hermia
Dru as Helena (yes, the hair colors are reversed, but otherwise it works)
Angel as Lysander
Spike as Demtetrius
Willow as Oberon
Tara as Titania
Xander as Puck

I'd say Holden for Puck, myself. Xander's not that mischevious.

Giles as Theseus?

Xander would be a much better Bottom, methinks.

I was debating between Bottom and Puck for Xander, and went with Puck because of the Willow/Oberon thing. But yeah, he'd be a better Bottom. I'm thinking Ethan for Puck, now.

Giles would be a good Theseus. Or possibly Quince.

Ooh. Quince. I like it. Think of the possibilities. He could wear the little Restless hat and talk about "hiding".

What? Didn't have the ability to mix two completely different things? Rewrite my favorite satire of all time as a Buffy fic?

I don't. Really.

just the concept in general was a good enough laugh ;)

Santa v. Buffy should be top priority, cause even I'm curious.

I demand Faith as Tybalt. The end.

Hm. A neat interpretation, a bender of the gender lines, but I still back Xander as it allows for a more humanistic interpretation of the role that is oft denied the character.
