VID REMASTER: It's the End of the World As We Know It by Luminosity & Kamil (BtVS)

I should probably post this before the year is out. Back when franzeska and I were putting together the Escapade Friday Night Dance Party, we talked about using luminosity and Kamil's classic Buffy vid, It's the End of the World as We Know It. However, the vid was made from VHS and off-air rips and when truly ugly video compression reigned. With Lum's kind permission and no idea of what I was getting into, I set about remastering the vid from DVD/iTunes sources, the results of which you can view/download below:

At first glance, the vid *seemed* like it was just going to be a massive clip hunt, which is in my wheelhouse. Otherwise, lots of cross-fades and not much else to worry about, right? Wrong. Lum is a mad genius, playing with overlaid clips and speed ramping and all that other glorious stuff that you really makes you bang your head against your monitor during a remaster. In the end, I think I got it *mostly* right and the vid plays nearly-identically on top of the original.

Here from sparrow2000’s rec, and I echo the praise that’s already been given. I really enjoy the song itself (I’ve done it karaoke a couple of times, and even used the line “the Other Night I Dreamt of Knives” as the title of one of my most recent fics), and I can now listen to it in the background if I want OR watch your vid again for the pleasure of seeing how you matched images to words. Congratulations on a wonderful effort and fine result.
