It's looking like I'm not going to finish off my robots vid before the year is up, so let's just do this now, shall we? As I normally do, I only count the vids I released in 2014, even if the majority of work was done in 2013.

February (Festivids reveals)
Battle Without Honor or Humanity (Danger 5)
Radio (Hey Ash Whatcha Playin')
Raise Your Glass (Space Cases)
The Ballad of Wesley Crusher (Star Trek: TNG)

August (Vividcon)
Dracula Has Risen from the Dance Floor (Hammer Dracula)
Carries On (Jim Henson)

My favorite video this year (of my own):
Once again, it's a tie between the vid where I challenged myself the most (Carries On) and the vid that was the most fun (Battle Without Honor or Humanity).

My least favorite video this year:
Dracula Has Risen from the Dance Floor.  I tried a new vidding technique where I literally threw every cool clip at the timeline and then chiseled out a vid from there and it really just did not work.

Most successful video:
Carries On, hands down. I set out to make a vid that made people cry and I did that. A lot. It also put me back in touch with my own sense of wonder in a lot of ways. Also the sheer number of great Tumblr tags:

#cries about it #well i am a mess #GROSS SOBBING #IT'S OKAY I DIDN'T NEED MY HEART #LEAVE ME HERE TO DIE #i'm not crying your crying #actual gross ugly crying over here

Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Probably Raise Your Glass, but I can understand it. I mean, it's a vid based on a short-lived cable sci-fi kid's show and the available footage was utter crap.

Most fun video:
Battle Without Honor or Humanity. There's a bear playing a piano!

Video with single sexiest moment:
Dracula Has Risen from the Dance Floor, but I'm a little weirded out by it. Once I started working on the vid, I became deeply uncomfortable with the level of dubcon and non-con in the source. I chose to turn into the skid, as it were, but I'm still not 100% convinced that was the right move.

Biggest vid fail:
Two-fold. First, I didn't take proper backups of my external drives, so when two of them failed over the summer, I lost a lot of ongoing vid projects and source.

Second, I started a lot of vid projects and sort of just let them sit there. Fingers crossed we'll see them in 2015!

Hardest video to make:
Again, two of these. First up, Radio. It was the last vid I ever made in Final Cut Express 4 and... it was just so clear as I was making it that I'd fully transitioned to FCP X. Also,  the source was very static, not always visually consistent, and I wasn't always sure where I was going with the whole thing. That it turned out as well as it did was a straight-up miracle.

Second, Carries On. I will straight up tell you that there's a version of this vid that exists that is *awful*. If it wasn't for [personal profile] fan_eunice and her all-encapsulating beta notes, it would not be the vid it is now. Also, the footage acquisition for this was a mofo. There's still some clips in it that I had to pull from Youtube, which I am not happy about.

Most unintentionally telling video:
Carries On. I think it is equally the story of Jim Henson and a look into my own particular way of interacting with and celebrating media. Only the Jim Henson part was intentional.

If I'm being really honest, The Ballad of Wesley Crusher probably says more about my childhood than it does about everyone's favorite acting ensign.

Other vidding miscellany:

Once again, here's something I said from last year's meme:

I released 16 vids in 2013 -- I think I'm going to take a step back. I'm going to hunker down and focus on a smaller set of vids that are really important to me. And a couple of silly ones, too, because I'm me. And I'd like to make a video game vid this year. That would be cool.
With the exception of Carries On and maybe The Ballad of Wesley Crusher, I don't really think I ended up making those Important Vids. Radio is about as close as I came to making a video game vid. But I did step back -- only six vids!

For 2015:

At this point, I just want to finish everything that's on my plate and then see where to go from there. I've been on a weird vidding downswing lately. I've been searching for other hobbies to fill the time that vidding would usually take up. I think I'm taking... not a break, but a mellowing. I may even give myself permission to accept this as normal. Maybe.

You made some fabulous vids this year, and I look forward to seeing the robots when they're ready. Also, every year is a good year for mellowing! *HUGS*

Well, I love the Space Cases vid, even if there are only like ten of us who remember that show.
