Happy Anniversary, MST3K!

It's been 25 years since Joel and the bots started riffing on KTMA in Minneapolis. After a year of that, they moved to cable and into our hearts.
My sense of humor is partially defined by the wacky hijinks of this show and I love it to pieces. Watch some tonight, won't you?

Date: 2013-11-25 12:31 am (UTC)I first saw the show one New Year's Eve, when KTMA broadcast their take on Gamera vs. Zigra-- I think that was the one, it was one of the Gamera movies. I was watching on a black and white TV which had quite a lot of static and couldn't make out the silhouettes very well at first. Was completely hooked, I remember plotting to somehow get tapes of the show to cable or network folks because the world needed to see the show, darnit. Never did anything like that, never even actually wrote in to join the club, but I watched and taped and so on.

Date: 2013-11-25 05:22 am (UTC)I used to watch MST3K on the Rhino VHS tapes with Mom and my sister back in the day. Right around that time, MST3K moved to Sci-Fi, which we didn't get, but Mom (who lived in a different city) did. So she tape three or four eps at a go and give them to us when we had a weekend/week together.

Date: 2013-11-25 08:16 pm (UTC)I still haven't seen all of the episodes, but my husband and I discussed this last night and are thinking we might get into the habit of watching an episode or two each weekend because I still think of it as a weekend morning sort of thing (much like watching cartoons).
