After Hours (1985) Martin Scorsese (yup) directs a madcap everything-that-can-go-wrong-does comedy. It's awesome. -- jetpack_monkey
Auntie Mame (1958) The movie starring Rosalind Russell, not the musical with Lucille Ball. It's the story of an orphaned upper class little boy who goes to live with his free-spirited aunt in Manhattan, who loves throwing parties and living life to the fullest. The costuming is over-the-top, and Rosalind Russell is the rightful center of all the chaos. -- grammarwoman
The Beaver Trilogy (2000) It's about fannishness? I think? And it's like a cinematic version of the telephone game? And the fact that the make-up artist (possibly the only one in town?) works at the morgue will never not be hilarious. High school talent show! Oliva Newton John! Sean Penn! Big Man Japan (2007) A really great Japanese mockumentary about a Japanese superhero! It is bittersweet, hilarious, and angsty by turns. A must see if you are into superhero mythos type stuff. The last ten to fifteen minutes are inexplicable while also concisely criticizing America and American/Japanese relations. And ... other stuff. -- ghost_lingering

Black Snake Moan (2006) A bluesman (Samuel L. Jackson) chains a troubled sex addict (Christina Ricci) to his radiator in order to save her from herself. Charade (1963) Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn--and a surprising cast--FTW! -- diannelamerc
La cité des enfants perdus (English: The City of Lost Children) (1995) French film from the director of Amélie and Delicatessen. With bonus!Ron Perlman! It's beautiful and creepy and has a lovely take on the 'family you make'. There's a large emphasis on dreams, so the camerawork is amazing. Plus it's Jean-Pierre Jeunet so not only are the characters interesting from a writing standpoint, but also from a visual one! Trailer. -- mizz_destiny

Hero (Ying Xiong) (2002) It's set in ancient China about some assassins and stuff. Okauy, so there is *obviously* some political... subtext? text? going on pretty strongly here, that I don't necessarily agree with, BUT OH IT WAS SO PRETTY . The colors. It's made for vidding, for a certain type of vidder who loves colors. -- laura47

Starship Troopers (1997) It's 90210 in space only with gore and action. Also features Neil Patrick Harris in a trench coat. It's pretty deep in terms of social criticism too, it has so many layers about the future of the human empire and the glorification of war. It's also insanely beautiful to use as a vidding source. -- cirque
Super 8 (2011) If you ever liked The Goonies or E.T., this is the film for you. It brings out my inner ten-year old; it's nostalgic and funny and entertaining and occasionally heartbreaking and also stars Kyle Chandler looking mighty fine. -- legoline

Twilight Samurai (2002) A beautiful story about a man from the Samurai class, living during the meiji Restoration, who basically just wants to be a good father and have a simple life, but of course it gets complicated. I've requested it before, but I don't know if anyone's ever offered it. I watched it for a class, and sobbed like a baby. I don't think anyone else did, I just was really moved! -- laura47
Wings of Desire (1987) Angels watch over Berlin, and one of them falls in love with a trapeze artist. Full of long, still shots and really evocative cinematography. -- sweetestdrain

Big Wolf On Campus (1999) It is basically Teen Wolf, except campier, even more homoerotic (I KNOW), and it aired on Fox Family instead of MTV. And there are a few episodes starring Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. -- elipie
Capital Scandal (2007) It's a wacky cheerful romcom with floral pink fedoras, except it's about undercover resistance fighters in 1930s Korea, so wait it's actually terrifying I lied. -- shati
CHAOS (2011) This series is hilarious, brilliant acting, good-looking men in suits, amazing comedic timing, hurt-comfort, team bonding... CBS played it *out of order* and then axed it, so please watch it in the fan-order which is much closer to the real order of the episodes. And enjoy! :) -- starrylizard
Cleopatra 2525 [This is] a ...stunning show. It has $10 special effects, $5 writing, all the grrl power you could wish for (the stars are Gina Torres and two other women), an embarrassing number of pop-culture references from the year 2000, men and women in incongruous BDSM gear (this is by the same people who made Xena and Hercules), and goggles, goggles everywhere, because this takes place in the future, when machines rule the earth... -- thirdblindmouse

Game On (1995) Particularly for the antics that agoraphobic Matt gets up to in an attempt to amuse himself because he can't leave the house. The episode where he gets his penis stuck in the vacuum cleaner pipe never ceases to be hilarious, from a female perspective. -- littleheaven

Invasion (2005) I'm probably the only one who watched it (which is probably why it was canceled), but the TV show Invasion was shaping up to be kind of awesome, even though it only had one season. -- sabaceanbabe

Leaphorn and Chee (2002 -- film 1, 2, 3) Wes Studi is awesome, and Hillerman's endless passages about landscape and weather translated into gorgeous scenery. (And at ~6 hours, it's a manageable amount of footage while still having enough to be easily viddable.) -- franzeska
