I am making lists of fandoms as we speak! Hopefully there are other horror fans, because apparently I will be requesting almost entirely horror fandoms.
Tell me of your horror fandoms. I feel like there needs to be a general pre-festivids pimping period where we go, "this is what I'm nominating! You should watch it so you can make me vids!"
That's a great idea! I'm a little shy about making such a post, though (I know, me shy? What?).
Here's my current list of potential horror fandoms (list not final):
Black Sunday (1960) -- ALL THE BARBARA STEELE. Also, Mario Bava makes gorgeous films. Lisa and the Devil (1973) -- Problematic as hell, but also deliciously trippy. See above, re: gorgeous Bava movies. Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1973, TV) -- X-Files before X-Files Eyes without a Face (1960) -- Somehow both clinical and balletic French horror The Howling (1981) -- Werewolves are awesome. The Black Cat (1934) -- Bela vs. Boris in a battle for souls.

Yes, basically. It's a rare fandom vidding exchange. It's a thing of joy.
In September, there's an open fandom nomination period, followed by a disputes period (this is not a rare fandom, this should actually be the same fandom as this other thing, this is too broad a category, etc).
In mid-October, you submit your list of 6-8 requests and your list of at least four offered fandoms.
In late October, you get your assignment. The only part of the request you must heed is the fandom. Any other details provided by your recipient are optional.
You have until about the first week of January to finish your assignment and upload it anonymously (you will be given a login to a video streaming site or you can create your own anonymous account somewhere else -- it's up to you).
You can also make treats based on other people's Dear Festividders letters or take on pinch hits. These are accepted up until golive, which is in late January.
You spend two weeks squeeing about all the vids and making guesses about who made what before reveals in early February.
It will consume your December and January if you're not careful. Which is AWESOME.
And in this case, "rare fandom" is any fandom with very few vids. For instance, the original Star Wars trilogy was a Festivids fandom last year. Sure it's hugely popular, but there are surprisingly few vids for it.

This isn't a list of all the fandoms that were nominated (I can't locate that), but it's still a good idea of the kind of fandoms that get nominated.

Ashley and I had just figured out that now would be the perfect time to make Escapade vids, though!!
