Last year I think I recced 30 vids total. This year I am cutting that down to 13, because if I recced all of the good vids, I would rec pretty much the entire con's worth. These are the vids that really hit me, made me feel, hung out in my brain.

Telephone (24) by [livejournal.com profile] jarrow
Of course. OF COURSE this is the perfect vidsong for 24. How did no-one see this before?

A Different Kind of Love Song (Multi, meta) by [personal profile] giandujakiss
Fandom in fandom, an infinite recursion. There were a *lot* of meta vids at Vividcon this year. This was my favorite. All the ways our shows reflect us and we reflect our shows.

Fire In Your New Shoes (The Prisoner) by [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain
This isn't just a Prisoner vid. It's a thing of freakin' beauty. An unexpected but excellent music choice, amazing editing, and a great sense of the batshit insanity that runs rampant throughout this series. My only problem? Now I find the prospect of finishing my own WIP Prisoner vid daunting. No way can I match this!

Shake it Out (The New World) by [personal profile] mresundance
This vid is a long punch to the temple, angry and bitter and regretful. Colonialism sucks.

Jar Oh! Hearts (slasher films) by [livejournal.com profile] jescaflowne
Everybody in the Challenge vidshow laughed at this one and I sat there with wet eyes going, "DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? The Final Girl archetype is important! They will take back the power! THIS IS IMPORTANT!"

Dead and Gone (Game of Thrones) by [personal profile] anoel
I had the joy of seeing this vid several times before Vividcon. It was amazing then and it's amazing now. Arya Stark and her journey. Great use of geography to drive home emotional spears.

The Adventure (Harry Potter) by [livejournal.com profile] greensilver
I am not really a Harry Potter fan. I've only read four of the books and I haven't seen all of the movies. But after this vid, I will happily, cheerfully raise the standard for Neville. The epic story of a hero not swept up by destiny.

Everything is Wrong (Community) by [personal profile] laurashapiro
This was the vid of the con for me. Laura Shapiro celebrates Britta while critiquing the show's treatment of the character. There's some excellent work putting Britta's "fail" in context of all the other characters. At the end of the day, Britta really is the best. So full of fun, joy and, yes, FEELING. Bag-gel.

Lateralus (Fringe) by [personal profile] rhoboat
Epic. Intricate. FULL OF HIDDEN MATH. But no math knowledge is required to get sucked into this amazing vid that completely sold me on Fringe. One man's single act of desperation sets of a spiral of catastrophe.

What Makes You Beautiful (Merlin) by [livejournal.com profile] elipie
This is adorkable and smile-inducing. I dare you not to sing along. Huggable slash.

A Thousand Years (The She-Creature) by [livejournal.com profile] mosellegreen
At first the extremely long clips threw me off, but eventually they started drawing me in and soon I was, ah, hooked. No pun intended. Femslash. With a killer mermaid.

God Loves, Man Kills (X-Men) by [livejournal.com profile] meivocis
Just a wonderful translation of the movies back toward the comics they are based on. One of many excellent lyrics-free vids this year.

Barton Hollow
(Homeland) by [personal profile] fan_eunice
I still haven't found all the levels of this vid. I think that will probably require watching Homeland (DARN). This is just... emotional and dark and ... agh. So good. So so good.

Also, I cannot recommend highly enough the four vids that premiered in my horror vidshow:

The Tragic Tale of Cesare (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) by [personal profile] echan
Raspberry Swirl (Suspiria) by [livejournal.com profile] sol_se
Take a Shot For You (Zombies) by [personal profile] lyonie17
666 (The Omen) by [personal profile] leanwellback

I thought you were going to get [livejournal.com profile] jescaflowne to post her vid. I'm losing confidence in you as the doer of all things! (But great recs)
