Vividcon Recs: More of Them (Part 2 of 2)
Aug. 22nd, 2011 12:14 amMore recs, this time from Club Vivid, Challenge, and the various themed vidshow Premieres.
Get this Party Started (Leverage & White Collar) by
rhoboat - Shirley Bassey + Leverage + White Collar = Win.
Dance Dreams (TRON: Legacy) by
bradcpu - I didn't like TRON: Legacy that much. But I may like it more for this vid. Such a visual tour-de-force.
Whenever, Wherever (Twilight) by
obsessive24 - Yes I'm reccing a Twilight vid. It's a completely adorable Edward/Jacob slash thing.
Friday (Brazil) by
millylicious - It may be Rebecca Black's Friday, but it's also Terry Gilliam's Brazil. Such a perfect encapsulation of the crapsack that is Sam Lowry's life.
Motown Philly (Psych) by
jarrow - If you ever forgot how ridiculously physical Psych is... this vid will remind you.
Human (Iron Man) by
barkley and
destina - God I wish I made this. I wish I knew how to begin making something like this.
Gotta Boyfriend? (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) by
cherryice - I thought Scott Pilgrim was nigh-unviddable (because much of it already looks like a vid in a lot of ways), but I've been proven wrong. I love this film and I love this vid.
Planetary (Go!) (BSG) by
cee_m - An entire civilization forced to drive forward because they don't have a choice. But man, can you dance to it.
Sabotage (Misfits) by
millylicious - I just started watching this show with
echan and, let me just say this: such a perfect expression of the crazy.

Debauchery in the UK (Lord Byron) by
mresundance - So awesome. Lord Byron really was a rock star. Some great movement in this one. One of my favorites out of the whole con.
Thorn in My Heart (Damo) by
laurashapiro - A very cool, layered vid based on a K-Drama I'd never heard of. Swordfights and romance!
Land of Confusion (V - original flavor) by
barkley and
destina - I really need to finish watching V, because there's so much in this vid I want to experience. The occupation and revolution set to rock'n'roll.
A View to a Kill (Crying Freeman) by
franzeska - I love this Bond theme (it's so much better than the movie it's attached to). Here it's used to illustrate a low-budget 90s action film which is (apparently) a bit ridiculous. I smiled a lot.
I Swear (Smallville) by
dualbunny ,
sweetestdrain ,
greensilver - OMG THE CRACK. I want to write fic set in this bizarro universe. And I didn't even watch Smallville.
*
Crawling Back to You (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) by Radixiscat - A very sweet story about two doomed men who love each other very much. (I haven't seen this posted online anywhere yet).
Hook Shot (multi) by
kuwdora - I love how this opens with a shot of Kuwdora's iTunes. It says everything we need to know up front: this is her mental movie playlist of awesome kickass women. I can't really argue with that.
I Wanna Go (Angelina Jolie) by
millylicious - A kinetic adoration of all things Angelina Jolie.
Music Again by
f1renze - Mr. Miyagi and Daniel-san complete each other. Very well put together.
So that's everything from the DVDs! As with every Vividcon, there were a lot of great vids from past years played, but I so don't have the brainspace to start making recs on those.
To bed with me now. Or... well, after I finish editing a review for Classic-Horror.com. Then bed.

Date: 2011-08-24 04:59 pm (UTC)Looooooved "I Wanna Go" - absolutely great visuals. Also loved "View to a Kill" though I suspect I'd giggle through the movie, from the summary. But damn those visuals were pretty. It was like a visual poem. Cut down from a pulp novel.
Need to see Planetary (Go!) - I may have been dancing and not watching at that point.
