Veronica Mars - Hot Dog
Apr. 20th, 2005 08:29 amDammit. Not only are they continuing with Veronica/Logan, but it freakin' works. Well. I mean, he's a psycho and it'll all end in tears, but for the moment it's exactly what both of them need.
Alyson Hannigan's appearance was pretty low-key again. I like how the show isn't all "big star" worship - it just treats her like an organic part of the cast. It's weird to watch her play somebody this manipulative and troubled... wait. It really shouldn't be. Maybe it's because she's not cute vocal inflection girl.
Good to see Daddy Echolls back, too. He's a pretty intriguing character. I knew from the minute that he fed evil!boyfriend that meat that he knew exactly what was up and was going to deal with it in a way that only an Echolls could.
The whole missing dog subplot I could've done without, but I guess Veronica had to be doing something...
The show really layers on the subplots like good ziti. Weevil in jail, dogs missing, Keith Mars suspecting his daughter's parentage, Logan and Veronica mackin', Alyson Hannigan an abuse victim. Oh, and Wallace was really awesome this week. I loved his bit about "I can't be the only one with this image burned in my mind." Great fella.
Afterwards, we watched some "Firefly" - Jaynestown and Out of Gas. Ariel's next in our journey through the 'verse, and I eagerly await her response to that. Heh heh heh.

Date: 2005-04-20 04:34 pm (UTC)Hmm. Don't know that I can agree with that. I do agree about it ending badly, though - at least, if the producers are playing fair with the audience, that's what'll happen. There's really no other way it *can* end, at this point.
This was a great episode. I loved the Celeste/Veronica confrontation, and Keith overhearing it. The whole scene where Daddy Echolls kicked the crap out of the abusive boyfriend was really well-done, too. What really got me there, though, was the perverse pride that Logan took in it. That is one seriously f-ed up family....
I thought that Alyson Hannigan was much better in this episode than she was in her first appearance (she just seemed sort of off in that one). I think she'd be a good recurring character, especially if next season's plot is about who killed Mommy Echolls.
Wallace was great in this one, too. Just a really good ep all around.

Date: 2005-04-20 05:55 pm (UTC)Suddenly I feel disappointed and should start watching this show...
Also, hmm, so you know desertwillow? I wrote her on OKcupid once(then again a year later it seems), and got a 92 or so on her "Could you date me" type test. We also have like, and 82 percent friend/match score.
She never wrote back:P
I don't get women. At all.

Date: 2005-04-20 06:54 pm (UTC)Well then, good job, tell her to reply next time people write her with a "no thanks" as a courtesy, and ask her if she has a sister;)
Don't know why, that's just a pet peeve of mine when people don't reply. Even if I'm not interested in someone who writes, they might have something interesting to say I figure, so worth saying "Hey, got your letter......yep. Got your letter."
