I'm about three hours in. So far, I can agree that this sequel is faster out of the gate and a bit creepier than the original, but it's... missing something. A certain depth. Playing Bioshock was equal parts shoot 'em up and visual novel. This new game doesn't have the same sort of narrative immersion going for it so far.

Then again, I'm not that far in. Maybe it's slower to start than I supposed.

I've heard similar reports from others, though I'll almost definitely still pick it up, as I'm a biiiiig fan of the first one. (It gave me nightmares.)

Apparently the multiplayer on Bioshock 2 is worth it alone, since from what I hear it's Rapture pre-destruction, and you can play as a citizen or a splicer or a citizen-turned-splicer, etc.
