I don't know which is the more traumatizing event of my evening: going to the emergency room for stitches on my finger or seeing my stepfather's naked ass.

Only very indirectly. After the ER, Mom and I stopped at her place for some extra bandages. Her husband, having recently come out of the lap pool, didn't bother with clothes. When he heard Mom come in (not expecting me to accompany), he rose from the couch. At least he was turned away from us.
