So I'm trying to suss out how anybody could call gay marriage "discrimination." As sort of a guide I made, in GIMP, a very rough outline of what I think the individual viewpoints on the debate are, using stick figures that make xkcd look like Van Gogh. Let me know if I'm missing something or if I've inadvertently become really really offensive.

I agree, I think there's a lot of this "but we don't want to marry gay people! our church doesn't believe in it! If you make us, that's discrimination!"

And these are some of the people who most seem not to have ever really had the concept of "separation of church and state"

They believe their ("good") beliefs should be made the law for everyone, and thus naturally and without thinking assume that you are trying to do the same with your "bad" beliefs. It's a "there can be only one!" mindset that doesn't do much acknowledging of "let live" towards others and thus they don't expect anyone newly gaining power to let them just "live" either.

And it would be wrong, if that's what anyone was trying to do. But they're not. There needs to be an informational campaign to get the truth out there.

There is, I think. It just doesn't have the same funding. Intolerance, for some reason, gets more people going than common sense.
