Saw The Dark Knight on IMAX tonight, thanks to quick typing skills in getting freebie tickets online.

Quickly, unexpected Jessica Harper late in the movie in a minor role.

That out of the way...

OM-FREAKING-GOD. Heath Ledger. OMG. This is everything the Joker should be. Just... brilliant. Absolute anarchy and madness. Brilliant.

Also, I feel like I just came out of two movies and that's a good thing. There's so much packed into the 2 1/2 hours here that it's hard for me to not just babble it out. I mean, this is... epic but it's also gritty and so very Gotham.

One minor nitpick, which I'll put behind a cut...


Just who does Christian Bale think he's kidding with that Batman voice?

I was always thinking (in Begins, at least) that the 'Batman voice' is an affectation of Bruce's, to further distance his public self from The Bat.

First off, that icon is disturbing and I am forced to use a similarly disturbing icon as retribution.

Second, I get the *reasons* but the actual voice itself is really silly (like, two octaves too low) and he does a lot more dialogue in it this time around.

Aaaanyhows, yeah, I found the Batman voice a little weird last time, too. If he uses it more this time, I will probably concur.

Also? You need to see Hellboy 2. If you haven't already.

Saw it Friday. Thought it was visually impressive, funny as hell, but a little underwhelming. It felt like the whole film had maybe four or five scenes in it.

Yeah. It's like... Guillermo goes wild with visuals! Creates epic imagery with a... not so epic story behind, even though they tried.
