Following up on the suggestions received from my post about scary television, I received a metric ton of X-Files suggestions. Which eps are the scariest? I'll probably take the top 4-5 and watch them to research my article.

[Poll #1183726]

Also, I still need suggestions for scary Supernatural episodes. People seemed to be drawing a blank on 'em last time.

Darkness Falls and Home.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Home. Just because I remember it the most.

Guh

"The Host" was my personal creepiest episode, just because of personal squick factors, and also because of the very realistic question the episode leaves off with about creating new species.

"Irresistible" is disturbing on a primarily feminine level, I'm not sure men would find it as unsettling.

"Hellbound" had some serious gruesomeness to it and a lot of "Did I just see that?!" moments due to shadows and super quick flashes of movement.

"Home" is just plain wrong. There is no other word for it. That episode makes your skin get up and leave the room without you. Followed closely by your stomach. It's actually a difficult episode to even watch because the subject matter is just so inherently wrong.

The rest of the episodes, I honestly couldn't tell you what anybody finds scary about. "Squeeze" and "Ice" I would describe merely as entertaining, and the rest of them I thought were rather dull. *shrugs*

I haven't been freaked by a SPN ep the way XF used to freak me out -- I suspect part of that is I'm older and more cynical than I was when XF aired. But eps that were creepier/scarier... Asylum. Lots of ghosts in a haunted abandoned asylum. Scarecrow -- the classic scarecrow comes to life and kills people plot. I know a lot of people were creeped out by Nightmare and the scene with the knife and the eye.

Playthings in season two, has the homage to the Shining going for it and lots of creepy dolls and creepy little girls.

For this season, I suspect this week's ep is going to be freaking scary from the promo pics and all I've seen.

Home is one of the first X-Files eps I saw in its entirety, and the one that sticks with me even now.

Irresistible was a very close second though. Very freaky ep.

For Supernatural eps, the one that comes to mind for me is The Kids Are Alright. Bugs bothers a lot of people I know, but solely for the insect factor. The Benders, maybe...

The problem with Supernatural is it doesn't honestly seem very scary to me, much of the time, though I still love it. Occasionally there's an aspect that freaks me out (like Ghostfacers, an episode that was mostly humorous, had some rather grim elements that left me shivering), but overall it's not all that scary.

darkness falls, because i can't deal with the bugs. I hate bugs.

Home is just gross and the only reason why anyone freaks out about it is because it's the one episode (besides 'blood' that doesn't get show because of it's content). I can't say i'm a fan of the episode, obviously.

Never seen "Home", so I have to go with "Irresistible", but I agree, guys may not get what a nerve-strike that one is. Don't *want* to see Home either, I have a feeling it'd beat out Donny Pfaster.

Although I think "Darkness Falls" had me *wide* awake for a good long time before I could go to sleep.

Have only just started watching Supernatural, but I would put The Benders (Season 1) as damned scary. Guess supernatural beasties don't match up to freaking crazy people.

I think Home is more creepy/gross than truly scary, but that's me.
