I was born in Iowa. I spent 12 of my first eighteen years as a resident, and the other six just a hop across the Mississippi in Rock Island, IL.

I often joke about how I made my escape from the state. Then again, I escaped to Phoenix. It's a bit like getting out of Alcatraz and landing in Leavenworth.

Anyway, today the The District Court for Polk County, Iowa ruled that same-sex marriage is protected under the Iowa constitution. Yeah, motherfucker.

The case still has to go to the Iowa Supreme Court, but I am hopeful.

And I've never been so proud to be a Hawkeye.
