A Blogging Experiment

We call this project "Jetpack Monkey watches a lot of movies and talks about them." It's similar in concept to the Screening Log over at one of my very favorite movie review websites Not Coming To a Theater Near You. I watch a movie. I talk about said movie. I invite you, the reader, to join in the discussion of said movie. Easy.

I'm doing this because I want to open up my journal a bit. I admire blogs like liz_marcs or Making Light that have an element of universalism to them. The bloggers speak of that which interests them, but do so in a way that they capture the interest of others who then speak on that interest.

Lately, I've come more and more to the conclusion that my personal life should remain personal, shared with the few rather than the many. I still want to contribute words, however, and this seems like the easiest way to do it. This won't affect the format of the journal too much. Fewer memes, probably, but otherwise, things should remain the same. It's like adding a new section to the newspaper.

One thing...you are going to have to release some of sort of speculative list, because if I haven't seen it, I need some warning to get my hands on it.

Er, not really. I might have some advance warning (for instance, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be at Grindhouse on April 6th) and I'll give it where I can, but I usually watch movies based on a "I wanna watch a movie -- ooh, this one!" sort of vibe.

I have a large DVD collection (http://www.monkeyswithjetpacks.com/site/dvddb) precisely so I don't have to plan ahead like that.

I'll be sure to let you know ahead of time if I know ahead of time.

Eh, probably not. I am going to start locking down a bit more. I've gone through and eliminated all references to my real name from public posts.

Well, I'd miss the stuff actually about you, as that's why I read this and all, but I'd certainly participate in any media discussion that I can. Given how few movies in common we have, though... heh.

As I said to qkellie, the personal stuff won't really go away so much as become a little more locked down. It's not that I'm at risk or anything, it's just that I don't really want the world to see my personal life.
