I DVR'd Jude off IFC. I didn't do it because I'm a big Thomas Hardy fan (although I do like him) nor did I do it to support the career of director Michael Winterbottom (it's a really good idea, though -- he made 24 Hour Party People). I did it because it stars Christopher Eccleston and he's, well... the Eccleston.

So imagine my surprise when David Tennant shows up for a brief but memorable role, calling out Eccleston on his drunken claims of superior academic knowledge.

That popping sound was my brain.

(incidentally, haven't finished the film yet)

It's rather a shame that RTD has stated emphatically that there will be no multiple Doctor stories. I would've loved to see a Three Doctors style two-parter with Eight, Nine, and Ten.

They would be so utterly adorable together. :D

I have a weird affinity for Eight sometimes. Poor, maligned little TV movie monkey!

He's big on the smoochies. You gotta give a Time Lord props for that.

On the one hand, I kind of want to watch this movie because of the Eccleston factor.
On the other, reading Jude the Obscure made me want to curl up and die.

So far my aversion to the book is winning.

That scene was entertaining though.

I'll let you know if the rest is worth it. The beginning of Jude is rather rushed, with Winterbottom not so much cutting subplots as sprinting through them. Things have come to a nice trot at the midpoint. We shall see...
