On a tag from [livejournal.com profile] gumboy:

RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.

1. I'd say about 75% to 90% of my dreams involve being submerged in a huge body of water -- usually swimming through it and/or falling into it.

2. I have to have something covering my feet when I sleep. This is a holdover from the first time I saw The Evil Dead and that scene where the girl gets a pencil jammed in her ankle.

3. I'm a gigantic girl. I like romantic comedies with happy endings and cry at the end of When Harry Met Sally. Every. Damn. Time.

4. Not my proudest moment, but hilarious at the time: when I was a freshman at the University of Iowa, a bunch of friends and I went to Best Buy for a new television for my dormroom. The set we bought was actually quite sizable, and we ended up having to stick one of our number in the trunk of the car. Feeling quite hilarious, we went to the park, got out and hid. Before we could open the trunk remotely, a city garbage crew came by and started emptying the trash. Seeing us behind the trees, they asked, "Hey, you guys muggers?"

To which I replied, "No, just rapists" (I know, I'm a horrible, terrible person and I will burn). The garbage crew seemed to think nothing of this and moved on. We opened the trunk and our friend came looking for us, but the hilarity of the exchange with the garbage people gave us away -- we couldn't stop laughing.

5. I swing off lampposts and leap onto curbs whether people are looking or not.

6. When I'm at home and I stand up too quickly and get dizzy, I steady myself by placing my hand on the ceiling.

7. My first semester at the University of Iowa, I was actually in the Theater program. My Acting instructor didn't seem to think I'd hack it and I really couldn't have agreed more.

8. I had a crush on my first film TA. So much so that I angled myself into a course the following semester with her. She was amused and occasionally annoyed.

9. I quit writing film reviews for The Daily Iowan because I gave How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days three stars based solely on Kate Hudson's participation and I felt compromised.

10. I am afraid of losing control of my own body and have nightmares about paralysis frequently.

I am afraid of losing control of my own body and have nightmares about paralysis frequently.

Is that what that's supposed to mean? Whenever I'm being chased in my dreams, I'm always slowed down/paralyzed/can't scream.

My dreams are more direct. My brain wakes up. My body doesn't. I'm a consciousness, aware of my body and aware that I am unable to move it. Trapped in flesh.

It's not fun.

You know... I don't know why I thought about this before, but there is an actual condition/disorder for this. It's called Sleep Paralysis.

Have you looked into that?

...that's disturbingly possible. Huh.

6. When I'm at home and I stand up too quickly and get dizzy, I steady myself by placing my hand on the ceiling.

Damn! Now why didn't I think of that?
