Okay, is that making mention of the kid that was at the panel last year at Comic-Con? Oh, please say yes, because my friend Aromee and I are the only members of our little group of friends that was there for that, and thought it was the funniest thing we'd ever seen.

AND I have a good follow-up story about that kid.

Yes, yes it is. I believe [livejournal.com profile] brightone was also there with me.

And do tell.

Okay, so after the panel, Richard Kelly did a signing at some booth in the exhibit hall. So, while he's doing his signing, the kid approaches the booth and precedes to ask Richard if he could tell him a secret. Richard starts looking a little freaked out, because clearly the kid is a little on the psycho side, and tells the kid that he can tell him the secret. The kid starts coming closer, and goes to whisper the "secret" in his ear. Richard gets freaked out again, and tells him he can just say the "secret" out loud, but the kid refuses and says he HAS to whisper it in his ear. Richard finally obliges and the kid walks up, goes to whisper in his ear, and plants a BIG KISS right on Richard's cheek and bolts off running. All the while, his friends are videotaping the encounter.

WHAT a weirdo.

Top five fandom pet peeves, any fandom

1. Xander does not have superpowers. Xander does not WANT superpowers. Please do not give him superpowers.
2. Canon happens. Please do not ignore the hard work of occasionally fallible writers so that your OTP makes more sense. Parker/Giles was never going to work anyway.
3. The Doctor *cannot* cross his own timestream without an enormous effort being put forth. As cute as it is to have 4 and 9 meet, it better be damned important.
4. Character bashing of any kind. Also, creator-bashing. If you're going to muck about in somebody's universe, have a little respect. They were there first.
5. Actually, this should be #1, but it's such a specific incident... I was on an ezboard for Buffy back before my time on LJ, where there was this idiot who hated Tara because she was a "fat bitch" and loudly argued that Buffy got exactly what she deserved in Seeing Red. Apparently, it wasn't really attempted rape anyway, since in his skewed little world, rape didn't actually exist; it was just an emotional ploy used by women to hurt men (and goes on to say that he'd "raped" his girlfriend once and they were happily married now). I wanted to fucking rip his eyeballs out with my teeth. I don't understand how any Buffy fan could be such a misogynist prick, but there you go.

*cough*

Oh, yeah. And Spike does not say "Cor."

What. The. Fuck?

I mean, I can understand people not finding Tara attractive - it really comes down to personal taste and to each their own on that. But fat? Good lord. Healthy is what she looked like. This person was clearly smoking the tainted crack.

I know! And in person, Amber's such a tiny little thing. I could put my hand around her, practically.

This guy was an idiot. To further the story along, I left the board in disgust (and somewhat wankily) when the "rape does not exist" thing came up. I got a rather nice e-mail from somebody who was rather adamant that they were not this asshole, but who hoped that I'd watched my mother and sister get raped at some point as punishment for being such a pansy.

Well, I think she's lost quite a bit of weight since leaving the show. It's a shame - I think she looked great for the most part when she was on it, her wardrobe notwithstanding of course.

And I'm sure that guy who sent you the email was not the same guy who made the post you talked about. After all, he was adamant about it!
