There's this asshat who's been out on his balcony for the past hour ranting about which ethnic groups he dislikes, where the male homosexuals can stick it, and generally blathering bile. He's speaking so loudly that I can hear every single word distinctly through closed windows and drawn shades.

Somebody asked him to be quiet (I assume politely - I only know he was asked by his response) and he starts going off about how he pays so much this and that for this goddamn apartment every month, it's his goddamn balcony, and he can stand out there and talk shit as loud as he fuckin' likes, because he pays so much this and that for this goddamn apartment every month, it's his goddamn balcony, and he can stand out there... etc. etc. etc.

He just now went inside, but jeepers. Seems to me I pay as much as he does. I should have the right not to be intruded upon by the rantings of loudmouthed bigoted assholes after midnight (or, really, any time of the day).

Some people love to tout their rights, but they forget other people have some, too.

Yeah, funny how people seem to forget everyone else pays a lot for their apartments and has right too, eh? Asshole was probably drunk or something, not that it excuses him. If it were me, I'd be calling the management and complaining about him :P

I'd call the police next time, or security if your complex has some. If nothing else you might be able to convince them to nail him on disturbing the peace -- or, since he's obviously drunk off his ass, disorderly conduct. Noise violations. Something. His balcony or not, he's outside and in public and different rules apply there.

Not that he can be convinced of this, but that's your leg to stand on should you decide to call someone on him.

Or you could just squirt him with a water gun until he sobers up. ;-)

I have no tolerance for guys like that. Don't like certain ethnicities or gays and lesbians? Fine. But shut it or else you're likely to find several feet belonging to the aformentioned people stuck up your arse.

In our first apartment, we had a slightly crazy recent divorcee who would wake us up at dawn periodically, screaming and crying at the top of her lungs - when her garage door would not open so she couldn't go to work. But she would just go on and on about how much her life sucked. Nothing political, but a rude awakening.

Funny thing is she never did it again after I got her to adopt a very sweet cat who'd been abandoned in the building. Pets work wonders. I'm sure I'd have gone crazy many times if I didn't have my cats to talk to. :)
