The way I see it, geeks need fandoms. Fandoms come out of obsessions and niches and strong opinions. They come out of shipper wars and meta-discussions. In my experience, one of the easiest things to meta is a 'ship. Pulling "evidence" out of context to fit a premise, i.e. Weevil and Wallace hook up.
