For
liminalliz: Five times Jack couldn't stop thinking about Irina:
1. Every single day since the day he found she'd betrayed him.
2. The barrel was cramped and uncomfortable, but it was the only way into that service entrance. Jack was too old for this. He couldn't help but wonder how Irina dealt when he and Sydney had to hide her in a grain barrel in the back of a truck. Suddenly he remembered how she looked that day and he wished he had something else to focus on except white noise and darkness.
3. He put the bullet through her skull and thought that it was over. The woman he hated, the only one he ever loved, was dead and he could put that part of his life behind him, once and for all. That night, when he was on his fifth Jack and Coke, hers was the only name on his mind.
4. Watching Vaughn in the months after Lauren's death, he saw a pale mirror of himself. Not as focused but just as destroyed, despite his claims otherwise. He examined the equation that did not equal up -- how could such an amateur as Lauren could have riddled any man with as much pain as Irina had exacted on him? Lauren used deception as a tool, but Irina held it as an art... But Vaughn was a poor canvas to begin with. Irina would have made him bleed agony.
5. Once, just once, Katya fell into bed with Jack. She never gave herself completely to any man, and Jack was no exception. She watched him as he moved with her, in her, and knew that he wasn't giving himself over to her, either. To him, she wasn't even there, and he was making love to Irina once again.
