Hatchet - Go See It
Sep. 7th, 2007 03:13 pm
Hatchet opens today. It opens in limited theaters and the only way to get it into more theaters is to go see it if you can. http://hatchetmovie.com/ can tell you if it's playing near you.
Reasons to see it:
1) It's not a remake. It's not a sequel.
2) It takes the urban legend approach to slashers (a la Jason, Freddy, and Michael Myers), not the "convoluted early life trauma causes psychosis" or "one of our friends is killing us, but who" tacts, which can work, but often get bogged down.
3) It's got a heavy vein of comedy running throughout, bolstered by the fact that most of the cast is comprised of experienced comedic actors like Joel David Moore, Deon Richmond, and Mercedes "Harmony" McNab.
4) Kane Hodder, the man who was behind the Jason Voorhees hockey mask more times than any other actor, plays the killer, Victor Crowley.
5) Director Adam Green is fully committed to fun and mayhem.
6) It's rated R for nudity and violence.
7) I've yet to read a negative review. Most are overwhelmingly positive.
