jetpack_monkey: (Father Merrin - All Your Demons)
Back in August 2004, Classic-Horror had 626 film reviews of varying qualities (668, actually, but 42 of those weren't really for horror movies). Just over half were absolute crap, in point of fact, either being a one-paragraph synopsis or a multi-paragraph blather that failed to actually review the film (my work containing some of the more heinous examples of both crimes). So, when we switched over to a new design, I cut 315 reviews that didn't meet a certain standard of quality (plus the 42 that didn't cover horror).

So, since then I've been working to get the number back up to 626. I just did the math and, if we keep up with the current rate of reviews (which is about 67 a year), we'll be right at 626 reviews in the archive at the end of 2008. This makes me unreasonably giddy.

A big part of it is that there's always a huge review push in October and, if everything goes well, this year will be the biggest, with 23 reviews (including several by [livejournal.com profile] timjr, [livejournal.com profile] midnightfae, and myself).

I'm overly excited.

(speaking of reviews by [livejournal.com profile] timjr, we've just posted his write-up on the 1964 Japanese horror-drama Onibaba, which you should read)
