Author's Notes: Written for the Angel Ficathon Two. Challenge from miz_thang88: Angel/Dawn, gen. Featuring Illyria (not there yet). To involve the line "So this is where heroes end up?" and to not involve anything post-Not Fade Away.

This part's short since I was on a deadline. Completed story could run anywhere from 5000 to 10000 words.

Weekend in LA

My original plan was to post about each day of the weekend individually. However, I only managed to do that for Thursday's hi-jinks. Then the weekend became really busy, which is right and good.

Friday: First there was brunch. Then desertwillow went to hang out with a friend, so airawyn and I spent some quality time together doing pretty much nothing. We excel at that. There was some writing and some discussion of writing. Oh, and we watched 12 Monkeys. Then desertwillow called and said she got lost coming back, so we had to direct her over the phone. Then airawyn and I went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at El Capitan in Hollywood.

The presentation itself made the film better. There was an organist before the show instead of slides or advertisements. A guy actually came up with a microphone to introduce the movie. The pulling back of the curtains to reveal the screen was a show unto itself. The trailers ranged from clever (Chicken Little) to idiotic (Herbie: Fully Loaded), but I'm pretty sure they were all Disney (which makes sense, since Disney owns El Capitan).

Saturday: LA Renaissance Faire. Pretty fun, but mostly a lot of shops that I wasn't interested in. Caught some great shows, though, like Sound & Fury and the Poxy Boggards. Afterwards, we all (plus tymothil) drank margaritas, told stories, and watched Buffy.

Sunday: desertwillow headed home, and airawyn and I hung out and watched Doctor Who. It sounds drab, but really it was a pretty sweet time. Hanging out, talking, navel-gazing on occasion... I liked it.

So, yeah. Good weekend. Saw two much-anticipated films (Serenity and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and spent time with some good friends. I must do this more often.
