My sister just got back from a trip to Tucson, and I've been informed that that city is far better suited to my type of restlessly pretentious personality. Since my plan has been to move there for school in January, I can only hope that she is correct.
Eh...yes and no. Having greater familiarity with Tucson than Phoenix, one of the reasons I initially chose Davis over UofA was because of the same things you mention about Phoenix. I definitely think it's BETTER, but it's not best. More cultural, in some ways. And there's no better place in the US for tortillas.
Of course, Davis wasn't that fabulous a choice either, but at the time I hadn't researched by college options the way I should have.
