Regarding Awesome Friends...

[livejournal.com profile] midnightfae went above and beyond the call of duty in the gift-giving season this year and tracked down the Canadian DVD of "Clone High," which I didn't even know existed, and purchased it for me. All 13 episodes in a 2-disc set! No longer do I have to view shoddy bootlegs of the best animated series involving clones of famous guys and ladies used by a board of shadowy figures for nefarious purposes. I have it all on official, licensed, totally legit ordered-from-Amazon.ca DVD!

OMG. I cannot tell you how awesome this is. My brain jumps for joy.

Also, saw King Kong tonight. Found it impressive, but disappointing. I never fully engaged with the story, and I still prefer the 1933 original for all of its flaws (or perhaps because of its flaws). While the film that Jackson made is certainly to be admired for all the reasons a film should be admired, that may be its fatal flaw. This is a dorky story... and there's no dorkiness in the telling.

I'm a fan of the 1976 King Kong, although that probably has more to do with it being a childhood favorite than anything else. I have no real desire to see the new one. Frankly, the CGI gorilla looks just a little too much like, well, a CGI gorilla. I have to wonder how the film is doing, seeing as Narnia was sold out here tonight and, according to the ticket girl, only two people went to see Kong. That doesn't exactly encourage me to go see it either.

We had 6 theaters showing Kong and only one showing Narnia, so my bet is that Narnia sold out at my multiplex by simple supply and demand...

We have 1 theater with 14 screens. Narnia's on 3 of them (all sold out for the early show) and Kong's on 1 of them. Also Harry Potter's on 2 screens and they both looked to be pretty packed. Maybe it's just a local thing, more families and less...everybody else. We're also in the midst of a major snow storm, so that might play into it somehow too. *shrug*

OH DUDE FOR SERIOUS! I must get my hands on one of those 'Clone High' disks. It's only a matter of time before my computer dies and i lose those episodes forever. Best thing MTV ever did, seriously. I may have to buy that bad boy up...
