jetpack_monkey: (Naked Lunch - Writing on the Brain)

Reading == Writing

So. I finished Ender's Game last night. I totally should've seen that ending coming, but I didn't. I lose.

But. All of this reading has me thinking and plotting and considering. I'm not saying I'm returning to writing fiction again any time soon, but I do rather like the gamut of ideas flowing through my brain right now. Strangely, none of them have to do with Card's concepts, really.

I also started Neuromancer and I'm really concerned that my future-noir novel's central conceit is going to need a complete revision if I stumble onto it while I'm educating myself on cyberpunk.

ETA: I am dumb and did not post about the really BIG news. I bought a new MacBook Pro last night! It's the one in the middle. It's very shiny. The only problem is that the screen does not tilt back very far, which causes problems for those of us whose heads are very far from our laps. I may need to get, like, a laptop lap tray or something.

hi! i'm new. i just bought ender's game last month, so i'll be reading it soon, too ... thanks for not spoiling the ending!

I wouldn't dream of spoiling the ending, so no worries.

I don't think anyone I know figured out the ending ahead of time.

And yay for Neuromancer too. I <3 Gibson.

I suspected but wasn't sure. It wasn't a concrete thought, just a sneaking suspicion.

Oh fine then. Just go ahead and be smarter than the rest of us! :P

If it's any consolation, The Sixth Sense's ending came out of nowhere for me the first time. I was totally jaw-on-the-floor surprised. :)

Welcome to MBP owners' land! It's fabulous and shiny! (Though yes, do get some kind of stand for it or something.)

I need to read Ender's Game sometime, methinks.

Also, while you're on a cyberpunk kick, you might want to break out the Alien Blood (http://www.amazon.com/Alien-Blood-Joan-D-Vinge/dp/1568651929/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208462047&sr=8-3) book I gave you. Excellent cyberpunk stories.

Totally on my to-read list. I'm probably going to do a little alternation, so it's Neuromancer, then Speaker for the Dead, then Alien Blood, then probably a Dresden novel, then Snow Crash...

But I reserve the right to change my mind.

Congratulations on the new toy. Hubby just got me a new iMac last weekend, and after years of Windows usage, it's like walking from a dim room into the light. I love it. We are slowly going from a Windows to a Mac based family - only one of us still clings to the past...

Yes!

It must be very important. *nods sagely*
