Utopia -- Single Thought

I love how John Simm is playing The Master as sort of dark double for Tennant's Doctor. "New voice. Hello. Helloooo. Hello. Anyway." Manic and slightly batty and serious as a Gallifreyan double heart attack. God, this is going to be a corker of a finale.

*wants a Simm Master icon*

I actually kinda wish we'd gotten to see more of Derek Jacobi. I thought he did a great job, first as the kindly Professor, and then he was totally believable (and chilling) once he turned into the Master. But I guess they decided they didn't want an old-looking Master as the nemesis for a young-looking Doctor.

Simm looks like he'll be a lot of fun, though.

See, I didn't buy Jacobi as the Master. It just didn't work for me -- which is sad, because I am very fond of Jacobi.

If you haven't already, you simply must see Life on Mars. John Simm is just awesomeness personified.

"Say my name."

"Master. I'm sorry."

"TOUGH!"

God that's brilliant. *makes note to check out this Life on Mars*

"Master. I'm sorry."

And the slash wrote itself. ;)

Yeah, that struck me as a little Dom/sub. I don't think the writers in the Pertwee era quite grasped the ramifications of calling a character "The Master."
