Potential New Fandoms Alert

I was at Target the other day and I saw one of those OMG bargains -- a two-pack of Dark Angel: Season 1 and Dark Shadows: The Revival for only 17 bucks. I really bought it just for the Dark Shadows. I vaguely remember watching it when it first aired, although the most concrete memory I can pull is being amused that a guy named "Ben Cross" played a vampire. Anyway, I recently discovered that Barbara Freakin' Steele, Asa Vajda herself, was a regular. So, yeah, had to have.

But I'm also looking forward to Dark Angel. I've never seen it, but I hear good things.

During the same trip, I also picked up Diary of the Dead, because much as that film was made of massive fail, I really do need to have the complete Romero Zombies collection.

Two shows I've totally wanted to watch/rewatch. Never caught a full ep of DA when it was on, and I, too, have only dim memories of new school DS.

Ben Cross also played a vampire in this USA TV movie from forever ago called Nightlife that I weirdly loved. The mythology in that film about why vampires crave human blood straight from the source was actually very interesting.

S1 of Dark Angel is QUITE good. I was very impressed with it. Good characters, excellent dialogue, good plotlines, fabulous world building and a magnificently awesome otp. S2 is less awesome but still watchable.

Dark Angel had pretty decent sets, good writing, and great world-building.

As for the rest, well Jessica Alba's hot.

Less said about her acting, but she's wow.

Have you seen There Are Monsters on Youtube? I'd be interested in your take.

Creepy. I jumped at the bit with the little girl. The party scene seemed to drag just a bit and the director's a bit overfond of the wavering handheld shot, but otherwise, an effective little piece.

Whatever you think of Dark Angel S1, you must watch S2 for the amazingness that is Jensen Ackles' portrayal of Alec. Is definitely one of the best things to have ever happened to television. And, personally, I think the S2/series finale is without question the best piece of television ever made. I can watch it over and over and over and I have. :)
