Observation Likely Made By Others

From what I can tell (having seen the first five episodes of True Blood and only knowing S. Meyer's work by reputation):

True Blood = Twilight - Batshit Mormonism - Sparkles + Anna Paquin Being Awesome.

Discuss.

ETA: Formula updated to subtract Sparkles. From a comment by [livejournal.com profile] booster17.

Dear god, no! True Blood is waaaaay better than Twilight.

ETA: True Blood has complex characters with actual motivations other than plot contrivance, plots, suspense and genuine danger. No soulmates. No sparkling. No uterus-gnawing birth scenes.

And I don't think Sookie would ever go suicidal just because some guy left her.

Like I said. Minus the batshit.

Then there's nothing left.

And she'd kick some ass if someone stole her engine.

Having only seen the first two parts of Tru Blood, I still love it immensely. It's not a tv episodic Patient/Case-of-the-week type show, but feels like a lavish, almost BBC style adaptation from the books. Lovely, lovely stuff.

And I think your Twilight metapour needs a minus sparkles in it as well.

+ HBO requisite gratuitous nudity

I was not crazy about True Blood. Watched the first two eps. I liked Paquin and the main vamp, but that was it. I'm a bad vampire fan for deciding not to give it a third chance.

May opt to read the books instead, which I understand are pretty swell. The Sookie Stackhouse books, not the Twilight books. ;)

True Blood is actually quiet interesting. Paquin and Moyer are great as the two lead characters and the rest of the cast have complexity to their characters and play well to the plot of each episode. There are times where you get annoyed with how Sookie can act but that is just normal from the way all of it seem since she has a shapeshifter and vampires lusting over her.
