Alias notes
You know that you're losing the love when you've ceased to care what the number and title of the current episode is.
A few notes:
- Marshall's role continues to be way to small, and when he is on, it almost feels like an contractual obligation appearance. More Marshall is never a bad thing. Let's see MORE wacky tech discussions, people. I mean, what the hell was that toy he gave her? It made, like, no sense.
- This whole retcon of Vaughn's father. WTF? Vaughn's dad is like Uncle Ben. You don't bring him back. That death defines the character. Unless, of course, you're going into a Wesley-esque Dark Place, where Vaughn discovers that everything's a lie, etc, etc. Oh, wait. We did the whole "my parent's not dead and they may be evil" thing in Season 1! Wow, we're really going back to the beginning and not in a fun nostalgic way...
- I fail to see the point of APO. They work with CIA protocols, they're well-connected with the CIA, coordinate with them, etc. So... what's the point? This isn't black ops. This isn't SD-6 redux. It's just a funny name to give Sloane a reason for being there.
- The main Syd plot this week was cute, but seriously, where *was* her back-up? Dixon was taken off the assassination mission, and it's not like Vaughn, Weiss, and Nadia don't have actual jobs that sometimes involve fieldwork. Sure, they've got their buddy-buddy plot, but seriously. How much personal mission time does the CIA allot?
- I loved Spydaddy this week, although I would've liked to see that storyline fleshed out a bit. If we've seen this guy before, I don't remember him. I also love that the plotline made the coulda-been-cutesy ending just a little sinister.
- More Weiss. We need more Weiss. I loved the way he said "Dude" when Vaughn was natting at him about whether he told anybody, re: dad missions. Just a great character. I miss my Syd/Weiss subtext, but I'll deal (even though Nadia does nothing for me).
